  2. These photographs bring back many, many memories, for I spent several months in Kabul in 1970 and 1971. I was delighted to see a shot of the Khyber Restaurant, where I often had lunch. I have to say, however, that the women you saw in the streets weren't often dressed like the ones depicted here. It was -- and still is -- a very, very poor country, so these girls represented the Afghan elite.

  3. I remember when myself & a mate "hitchhiked" from Perth W.A. to England 1969 passing through Afghanistan & enjoying a wonderful meal at the Khyber Restaurant.
